Your hair is an indisputably important factor in looking nice, which is why I am writing this guide. I like to make sure my hair is kept in good condition by adhering to my strict, personal routine and regulations. Men are generally quite happy to follow of a policy of ''not giving a crap'' about things like the quality of their hair, but take it from me, those who are attracted to you pick up on these things. There is quite a lot of writing to go through in this thread, but sacrifices must be made if you wish to truly achieve perfection of hair.
Shampoo & Conditioner: The Basics. For my first piece of fundamental advice, it is regarding use of basic shampoo and conditioner, and how frequently they should be used.If you're attempting to achieve perfect hair, you must cast away the cheap and nasty shampoo & conditioner that you have previously been using, and should use products which are pertinent to your actual hair type and colour. For example, my hair is brunette, and consequently, I use John Frieda's ''Brilliant Brunette'' shampoo and conditioner, and never deviate from doing so. An example product is shown below so you can see what they're like for when you go shopping:
These products are not only pivotal because I'm a spoiled brat. Interestingly, they serve a purpose in the quest to hair perfection, too. Using products which are specific to your hair color means that you're using a product that has been especially designed for your type of hair, and so it will be more effective than any other non-specific type of product. For me personally, I have yielded wondrous results from using this type of shampoo and conditioner. Specifically, my hair is endlessly soft and effulgently shiny, and I actually, physically am illuminated when I go in the sun, as my hair is so radiant. These two items are a must in your bid for perfect hair, but it is equally important to know how (and how often) to use them.
EVERY day, apply the shampoo. Try to leave it on your hair for at least five minutes, washing your face and whatnot whilst waiting.
After that, wash it out thoroughly.
Apply the conditioner every TWO days, leaving it in for up to a minute or two, before rinsing it out, again thoroughly.Whilst you may have been brought up being told a different set of ''rules'' for shampooing/conditioning your hair, it is important that you follow my aforementioned guidelines if you want to achieve radiantly enhanced hair.
Straightening: The dos and don'ts.I don't know how many American males straighten their hair, but here it is becoming increasingly popular, and for those virile fools who refuse to straighten their hair at any cost due to utter fear that they are acting effeminately are deluded and lacking in mental vitality. Ignore their nonsense. For hair straightening, there really is nothing more advisable than GHD straighteners.
These straighteners are of extremely good quality, straighten hair well, and are not quite as malignant in comparison to other straighteners. If you don't know how to straighten your hair, ask your mother (or a sister) to do it the first time, until you get ''the hang of it''. Following somewhat crude written instructions, alternatively, you should simply close the irons and pull your hair through them in order to straighten it.
The dos:
Do straighten your hair if curliness/waviness isn't part of a style you're ''going for''.
Use heat protection spray, which prevents your hair from being damaged by the heat.
Do not persistently attack your hair with the straighteners. There is no need to assault your hair - once you have straightened one part, do not redo it.
The don'ts:
Avoid using cheap straighteners at all costs. It's better not to straighten it at all.
Do NOT straighten it every day. Straightening every 2 days is sufficient.
Straightening your hair isn't necessarily fundamental to hair perfection, especially in certain styles, but for some people it improves the look of their hair very much.
Other Products and Additional Information.
Most people choose to adopt a certain way of 'controlling' their hair. I, personally, use this:From personal experience, I have found that it makes your hair extremely shiny whilst holding it relatively well at the same time. Additionally, it smells very nice, and if you can get your claws on this product specifically, I highly recommend it. Generally speaking, most of the wax holding products are very good, although this is my preferred choice.
Final dos:
Wear a styling product! Not only do they allow you to 'craft' your hair to your liking, they also smell nice and make your hair shiny.
If you're female, let your hair down - literally! For girls, hair looks much more dazzling if it's down, as far as I'm concerned.
Wear leave-in conditioner for extra juiciness and shine.
Final don'ts:
Never wear bandannas or hats. Not only are they vile, they are hiding the stunning effulgence of your soon-to-be perfect hair!
At ALL costs, avoid dying your hair. I speak from personal experience. I have dyed my hair three times, and it has KILLED my hair. It took intensive hair rejuvenation to rescue it. Do NOT dye it.
NEVER use holding SPRAY. This stuff is vile and it makes your hair hard and crispy. It looks awfully cheap and isn't pleasant. Steer clear.
